Monterrey Habitat Observatory

Year: 2019 | Location: La Pastora, NL, Mexico | Typology: Museum, public building | Team: Rodrigo Gastélum Garza and Daniela Martínez Chapa

A complex is proposed for the awareness of biodiversity and for a research center for sustainable urban development. Its value lies in its public nature as well as its integration into a gallery forest. The layout is radial and concentric, housing a forum for people that connects with two main accesses.

The route between its various parts merges with the riparian forest. The architecture of Corten steel ships evokes the industrial character of the city and coexists with the endemic vegetation that will promote a local fauna of which visitors can be proud. In this way, it becomes a key piece for the La Pastora Reserve and a green corridor at the foot of Cerro de la Silla.
